I'm waiting for one of two things:

A) to look outside my window and see pigs flying around, or
B) the Apocolypse

I called my best friend, Destiny, tonight, where I learned something that turned my world inside out and upside down:

She and Scott, her boyfriend of just over 5 months, are breaking up tomorrow. I know 5 months doesn't seem like long, but, honestly, I swear they were made for each other, just meant to be together. She's going to be the one to break it off, because they've essentially come to an unspoken agreement that they're going to be breaking up, and, for her, waiting for him to do it is just killing her, so she told me she was going to do it tomorrow. My best friend instincts are screaming at me to get my butt over to her house asap tomorrow afternoon, but I know I need to let her have her space. I know that, when she's hurt, she prefers to be left alone, but, if she wants someone to comfort her, she'll come to them. All I can do now is to let her know that I'm here for her, and to continue praying for her.

I can't seem to get up the nerve to talk to her about God, though. But, in Bible class tonight, we talked about Stephen, from Acts 6 and 7, and, I swear Keith can read minds, because it was exactly what I needed to hear.

I'm going to call Scott tomorrow afternoon and (even though all my instincts will more than likely be screaming "KILL HIM!!") I'm going to basically say this: "I'm going to talk to Destiny about God. If something happens and our friendship falls apart because of it, I need you to be there for her. Let her know you still love her...and, by the way, you two are meant to be together, and you're an idiot for letting her go." That last bit is assuming they actually do break up.

Please keep me, Dest, and Scott in your prayers...and my boyfriend, Nick, as well.

The Cry of My Heart

Dear God,

I feel like I'm getting no where with Destiny. I'm getting so frustrated, and it's breaking my heart. I don't want to lose her for eternity.

Please help me to find the best way to get through to her heart that I pray You will soften and open up to hear what You have to say through me.

In your Son's name,
Amen.

Pray For Me

The theme of Winterfest 2008 was "The Mission." Jeff Walling shared with us four basic principals of Christian life:

"Know Jesus" called us to read and study Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, so that we may come to know Christ personally.

"Be Jesus" was a calling to live as Christ did, treating others as he would have.

"See Jesus" asked us to see others as Christ and treat them that way.

"Share Jesus" called us to share Christ with the world.

Although we left before the "Share Jesus" session, Keith asked us to decide about our first step in sharing Jesus.

While at Winterfest, I felt God caling me to lead my best friend, Destiny, to Him. I told Keith that my first step in that would be to pray to God, asking for eyes to see opportunities to speak to her about Christ, as well as the strength to sieze those opportunites when they arose.

I believe God is answering my prayers.

Destiny is going through two different crises- one with her Mom, and one with another friend- simultaneously. I was flipping through a New Testament we got at Winterfest, when I found something they had added on the right half of the page. It was a guide of how to share your faith with a friend. The first step stated that, when they're facing a crisis, a challenge, or a big change, to say that there's only one thing that gets me through something like that. And when they ask what, tell how Christ has blessed my life. Then it goes on to ask them about their beliefs about Jesus, and sharing the Good News (if they're willing to listen)

I pray that God will give me the courage and strength to do what I feel is a calling from Him. I pray that He will open my eyes to opportunites. I also pray that He will open her heart up to recieving this.

Please pray for me as I do this.

God Takes Care of His People

As most of you know, a tornado hit Prattville on Sunday afternoon. At the time, the Grace Pointe youth group was traveling back from Winterfest, a huge youth rally in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I don't think any of us realized how close we came to being in the tornado.

When we drove by Prattville Christian Academy, I called Mom to tell her that 1) we were almost home, and 2) the gym at PCA had been flattened. She told me tonight that the tornado hit at about 3:10 or 3:15 pm. I called her at about 3:30.

As I sit here and type this, I can't help but be amazed. Had we been 15 to 20 minutes sooner...I don't even want to think about what would have happened. A trailways bus, carrying about 40-something teenagers and chaperones, on the highway, in the middle of a tornado. Just thinking about what could have happened scares me.

God was watching out for us that day. That is the only possible explanation. I know He's always watching out for His people, but He was definitely a shield around us then.

Our God truly is an Awesome God. He continues to amaze and show us His love for us, no matter what.

They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard!

All Lord of the Rings fans should get a kick out of this...I have this stuck in my head..."They're taking the Hobbits to Isengard!!"

Anyway...I guess I owe you all a blog update, huh? Well...It's 11:30, I have a paper due in 9 hours, and somewhere in there I need some sleep. I promise I will update as soon as I can. I don't know if I'll be able to tomorrow. I've got a cookie booth from 4 to 6 tomorrow afternoon, and then homewok after that.

Bye guys!
